McLaughlin Road

Caledon, Ontario
2021

Nestled in a charming Caledon village, this well-maintained century home was full of character but no longer met the needs of a growing family. It lacked a second bathroom, sufficient closet space, and a foundation strong enough to support an addition. To resolve this, helical piles were installed to suspend the new structure above the 100+ year-old porch, ensuring stability while preserving the original charm.

Renovation Highlights

  • Exterior Integration: The façade was clad in Maibec wood siding to visually unify the existing home and the new addition.

  • Primary Suite Expansion: The former bedroom was transformed into a galley-style closet and dressing area, leading into a spacious new primary bedroom with an ensuite.

  • Modern Conveniences: The laundry was relocated from the basement to the second floor, while a dedicated heat pump with its own zone provided efficient climate control for the addition.

  • Comfort & Light: Heated floors, skylights, and expansive windows maximized natural light and warmth. A curated mix of light fixtures added layers of ambiance throughout the space.

After a focused three-month build, the result was a tranquil and inviting oasis—perfectly balancing historic character with modern functionality for family living.
